NOBODY SAW IT COMING

How did a tiny group of outcasts in a remote outpost of the Roman Empire change the world forever? These people made outrageous claims about their leader; a man born into poverty who taught about loving enemies, touching the untouchables, and being immersed in a mysterious and transformational kind of life; a life in the Spirit. Without explanation, this insignificant cadre that included:  fishermen, farmers, and tax collectors, exploded after their leader’s public execution. Facing tremendous political opposition and religious resistance, this handful of outsiders formed a new, revolutionary, and magnetic kind of community. What it would eventually become, no one could have imagined… because NOBODY SAW IT COMING. 

Maybe, that’s still true today. What if God is intending to do something in us and through us far more surprising, more powerful, and farther reaching than we ever could have imagined? Over the next few weeks, we’ll talk about how what will eventually be called “the Church,” got started. And, how the people who were there at the beginning, had no idea what God was going to do.
