Loving the Elderly
SerraSol Memory Care
Just down the road is a community of people who are well cared for by SerraSol’s staff, but there is something we can offer that staff cannot: a friend who comes simply because they want to be there.
We serve at SerraSol because every person there was made in the image of God, and that image does not fade with age or illness. Time may change what someone can do or remember, but it does not change who they are to God; still His, still loved, and still worth our time.
People sometimes ask: Why serve at a memory care center when the visit may be gone from their memory by dinner?
Because we are not there to be remembered. We are there to love. The joy shared in that room is real while it’s happening. A laugh matters even if it isn’t remembered tomorrow. A held hand brings comfort in the moment. God sees every one of those moments, and nothing done in love is ever lost.
So we show up. We play games, make crafts, sit together, listen, and celebrate an ordinary day with someone God has not forgotten.
